I really like your version, except the type at the top really kills it as a whole. If you wanted to stick with just filling in with a font, there are better typefaces and ways of laying it out than what you've done. The drawing looks ace, and is fun, but it looks like the top half was just rushed. Good stuff, nevertheless.
The typeface is actually hand drawn but based on fonts from old Blue Note record covers. I was trying to play up the weird intersection of jazz and super heroes in the original.

i think the type looks cool. I like how simple it is. it would look cooler if it were up in the right hand corner instead of dead center though
